How Invisalign works

Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth. The aligners are custom-made for each patient and are designed to gently move the teeth into the desired position over time.

Here's how Invisalign works:

  1. Consultation: The first step is to visit an Invisalign-trained orthodontist or dentist, who will assess your teeth and determine if Invisalign is a suitable treatment option for you.

  2. Treatment planning: If Invisalign is appropriate, the orthodontist will create a treatment plan that includes a series of aligners. This plan will be based on digital models of your teeth and will show the movements that need to be made to achieve the desired result.

  3. Fabrication of aligners: Once the treatment plan has been finalized, the aligners will be custom-made using 3D printing technology.

  4. Wear the aligners: You will be given a set of aligners to wear for about two weeks at a time. Each aligner will apply a gentle force to your teeth, slowly moving them into the desired position. You will need to wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day and switch to a new set of aligners every two weeks or as directed by your orthodontist.

  5. Monitoring progress: You will need to visit your orthodontist every six to eight weeks to ensure that the treatment is progressing as planned. The orthodontist will assess your teeth and may make adjustments to the treatment plan if necessary.

Invisalign treatment typically takes about 12 to 18 months, depending on the severity of the misalignment. It is important to wear the aligners as directed by your orthodontist in order to achieve the best possible results.
