How to Whiten Your Teeth at Home with Just Two Ingredients
In this Article, I will tell you how you can whiten your teeth at home using just two ingredients. You won’t need any expensive dental procedures or whitening strips. This remedy is very effective and also very affordable.
If your teeth have turned slightly yellow due to drinking tea or coffee, or simply due to aging, this remedy can be an excellent solution for you. After sharing the recipe for this remedy, I will also talk about oil pulling, which is very beneficial for gum and teeth cleaning. Then, I will share some information about leaky gums, explaining how bacteria from gum wounds can enter your bloodstream. This is important to know because if bacteria reach your bloodstream, it can lead to serious health problems, even life-threatening ones.
Ingredients for Teeth Whitening
If you want to whiten your teeth significantly, you will need only two things:
- Baking Soda – You can buy a pack from any grocery store for about 50-60 rupees. Baking soda gives texture to the paste you’ll prepare and helps clean your teeth. It is very effective in removing stains and plaque.
- Hydrogen Peroxide – You can find this at a nearby pharmacy or online. However, it is important to use the correct concentration. You should only use 3% to 6% hydrogen peroxide—this will be mentioned on the bottle. Do not use 15% or 40% hydrogen peroxide, as they are too strong.
Most whitening strips available in the market contain hydrogen peroxide as their main ingredient, but these small strips cost around 4,000-5,500 rupees. There is no need to buy them. Professional whitening treatments at dental clinics are even more expensive. Some clinics use hydrogen peroxide concentrations as high as 40%, which can whiten teeth quickly but may also harm your gums. Some clinics even use ultraviolet or red light to intensify the chemical reaction, which can cause dehydration in the gums. This is why many people experience tooth sensitivity after professional whitening treatments. Although these treatments provide quick results, they should generally be avoided.
How to Prepare and Use the Mixture
- Take a small cup and add one teaspoon of baking soda.
- Add three drops of hydrogen peroxide to it.
- Add about eight drops of water and mix everything well.
This mixture will break down the stains on your teeth. These stains are actually a chain of molecules bonded together, and the oxygen in hydrogen peroxide breaks this chain, removing pigments from the teeth and making them white. This is what makes hydrogen peroxide so important.
Now, take your toothbrush and gently polish the outer and inner surfaces of your teeth with this mixture. This will not only remove stains but also kill bacteria and reduce plaque buildup. Brush for one to two minutes, then rinse your mouth with water.
Since the concentration of this mixture is much lower than what dentists use, you can use it every alternate day (once every two days). I recommend using this remedy two to three times a week and continuing for a few weeks to get the desired results. It is highly effective, and you’ll be surprised by the results! Once you see the difference, do share your experience in the comments.
The purpose of doing this process gently is to ensure that your gums and tooth enamel are not harmed. This is a very simple and safe method.
Oil Pulling for Oral Health
Now, let’s talk about oil pulling. You may have heard about it online—people take coconut oil into their mouths, swish it around for some time, and then spit it out. This is an ancient practice. In old times, people used sesame oil as well, but coconut oil tastes better and is not bitter.
To do this, take a little coconut oil in your mouth and keep it there for 10 to 20 minutes, swishing it around. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which is a powerful antimicrobial that helps reduce bacteria, especially those that cause bad breath.
The Link Between Sugar and Vitamin C
Now, I want to share an even more interesting fact—the connection between sugar and Vitamin C. The chemical structure of glucose (sugar) is quite similar to that of Vitamin C. When you eat too much sugar, it competes with Vitamin C to enter your cells. Since sugar is more abundant, it takes the place of Vitamin C, preventing it from being absorbed by your body.
What is the consequence of this?
You may have heard of scurvy, a disease that used to affect sailors in ancient times because they didn’t get enough Vitamin C in their diet.
Vitamin C is essential for collagen production, a protein that keeps your skin, gums, and bones strong. When you lack Vitamin C, your gums may start bleeding while brushing your teeth, which you might notice on your toothbrush. If you consume too much sugar or chew gum excessively, glucose blocks the absorption of Vitamin C, leading to bleeding gums—an early warning sign of Vitamin C deficiency.
Over time, this can worsen, making gum cells weak and forming tiny holes in the tissue. These holes allow harmful bacteria to enter the bloodstream, which can cause serious health issues. This shows why it’s so important to prevent bacteria from entering your blood.
I hope this information is helpful to you. See you in the next video! Take care. Allah Hafiz!
